We did a midnight ascent of Mt. Feathertop, the second highest peak in Victoria. The next day we went telemark skiing/falling down the mountain with skis on.

Alpine ice

Self-arrest tutorial
Step 1: Initiate free fall. Doing a frontflip is usually sufficient.
Step 2: Get a hold of your ice axe while you are falling down the hill. No ice axe means you keep falling.
Step 3: Put your full body weight on the ice axe. Legs up in the air is not good form.

Don't stab me!
This is a series of shots from our self-arrest teaching session. The goal is to hurle yourself into the air, avoid stabbing yourself with your ice axe and then stop yourself by slamming the ice ace into the snow. Vinnie and I got a little creative with it.
