Sunsetastic
We had a beautiful sunset poking through the trees behind us. These were in my edit-happy days so I did bring out some of the colors. I will post an original one of these days.

Leading at sunset
Dhugal shows us how it's done on a sunset climb. You can see the alpine glow on the rocks. This climb was awesome because there was a ledge you could climb up and take pictures of people on their way up.

Colin looks good doing the 90ft abseil (or "rappel" in American climbing language) through a waterfall. My hands got pretty slippery!

Aiming high
Australian footy is awesome. I played for the Melbourne University "intermural" and got a split lip my first game. This was a match between North Melbourne Kangaroos and Collingwood Cats.

Ski base camp
A cool thing about Australia is the tallest mountains are surrounded by MUCH smaller hills. Makes for a pretty dramatic contrast. This was the ski camp that I repeatedly fell down the mountain from.

We did a midnight ascent of Mt. Feathertop, the second highest peak in Victoria. The next day we went telemark skiing/falling down the mountain with skis on.

Frost tipped
The clouds and the tree have a similar speckled pattern. Taken on a cross-country skiing trip at Mt. Baw Baw. Yes, Australia does have snow, just not very much.

Alpine ice
More credit to Brian Schuster and his SD500. Climbing on some soft alpine ice. This was my first experience mountaineering! It gives a pretty good perspective on how little of Vinnie's crampons are actually in the ice.

All together now
Self-arrest tutorial
Step 2: Get a hold of your ice axe while you are falling down the hill. No ice axe means you keep falling.
Step 3: Put your full body weight on the ice axe. Legs up in the air is not good form.
